Canadians Prefer to Own their Homes
Home ownership is a good investment and hedge against inflation, but for the vast majority of Canadians it also provides a greater sense of fulfillment, emotional well being and attachment. Despite the economic downturn people know that in the long term their property will appreciate in value. An article in today's Times Colonist further added that not everyone wants to own their own home. Rental housing is all some people have ever known and for those it will likely remain that way. Similarly, those who buy a home will likely never revert to renting.
